Bohemian Wedding Antique Lace Jewelry with Crystals, Pearls & Moonstone

Lace jewelry by Laura Beth Love

"A remnant of cloth from a baby's first dress, a bit of lace from your wedding veil or vintage handkerchief, a piece of your grandmother's quilt, or perhaps a square from one of your father's ties—what better way to preserve a small snippet of a precious textile than to transform it into a beautiful, wearable piece you can enjoy every day?"
- Laura Beth Love, Boho Chic Jewelry: 25 Timeless Designs Using Soldering, Beading, Wire Wrapping and More, 2014 FW Media, KP Craft

Since my last piece of vintage lace & glass jewelry (learn how in project Lace & Glass Necklace, page 97, Boho Chic Jewelry Book) sold quickly, I figured I probably should list the second one I made in case someone would like it for the holidays. As I've said before, I try to offer a nice selection of different items in my shop, and my vintage lace jewelry seems to always sell out quickly!

This piece is made with white lace and so it's different from the last beaded one that I just sold. I think this one turned out beautifully too. I individually hand-beaded each gemstone link one at a time, and it took me an entire afternoon to put this one together! The chain and wires are all solid sterling silver and the gemstones are genuine pearls, rainbow moonstone beads, and quartz crystal beads.

This chain is long and measures about 32" in length and easily slips over your head, though there is a clasp attached as well. Lace jewelry is great for weddings as bridal jewelry and has a great Boho flair.

Super Special Announcement: Jewelry From My Boho Chic Jewelry Book Now Available in My Etsy Shop!

Own an actual jewelry piece from my Boho Chic Jewelry book!

My jewelry inventory has really been piling up and so I decided to let go of a few very special pieces that I have been holding on to...

These are the original pieces that I created for my first book, Boho Chic Jewelry: 25 Timeless Designs Using Soldering, Beading, Wire Wrapping, and More!

As you can imagine, these pieces are super-special to me! But I want them to go to good homes so that others can enjoy them. Because I created them for my very first book, they have a lot of love in them, and were part of a really big adventure!

These are in very limited quantity - when you write a jewelry projects book you make two or three identical pieces of each project...this is because you are shooting the how-to photos of the project in different stages of completion.

For my photo shoot my publisher flew me from PA to Cincinnati OH, and along with me went all of the projects and my tools. Weeks after I returned home I receive the jewelry pieces back in the mail after they are sent to an out of house photography studio for the "beauty shots" which are the beautiful fab photos you see on the front and back cover and throughout the book.

To make a long story short, I want to make sure these special pieces go to loving homes rather than keep them in a box in my workshop, so I am slowly listing them a couple at a time in my Etsy shop!

The first three are listed today and they are the dinner knife bell necklace (featured on the back cover of Boho Chic Jewelry book!), the vintage rose chintz china birdhouse pendant project from page 39, and the Taurus necklace pendant seen on page 52!

It's like owning an actual piece of the book!

You can find them here in my Etsy shop, and stay tuned for more that I will be listing in the near future!

Thanks for visiting & have a great week!

How To Cut Flatware For Crafts And Jewelry

Hi friends! I just uploaded a new video to my YouTube channel. It's a short one, but while I was working I thought I'd use the opportunity to record for you and share what I was doing.

I have a few jewelry projects in my first book, Boho Chic Jewelry, that use vintage cast off pieces of silverware—forks, spoons and butter knives—and turn them into unique pieces of jewelry. Each project in the book has detailed instructions with great photos to teach you how to do it all, but still, there's nothing like being there and seeing firsthand how something is done!

Enter my messy workbench and a handful of vintage silver plated butter knives—a recent thrift store find at only 10 cents each!

To turn these vintage finds into usable components, all you need are a few simple tools, the know-how, and a little elbow grease. Really, anyone can do it! Watch the video below and then be sure to subscribe!

Here's the prize that you end up with in the end - a beautiful, vintage component that you can use for jewelry or in your craft creations. How sweet is that?

And of course at the end of the video, I always offer suggestions for how you can reuse every last bit.

I use these components to create my necklaces (shown above), and like I said, you can find the complete step by step instructions for this particular project in my book, but check out the video for a behind the scenes sneak peek!

You can watch the new video here, and while you're there, don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel to be the first to get updates when I post new videos!

Here's an entire bowl full of these beauties. I love just sifting through them and admiring their beautiful patterns.

Want one but don't want to make your own? I have just a few available here in my Etsy Shop, so be sure to check them out!

Get yours today!

Have a great week!
Laura

Exciting Announcement: I Just Filmed Two New Jewelry Instruction Videos!

I love spreading good news. And boy, do I have some good news!

Late last evening I returned home to Pennsylvania after flying out to Colorado to film
two brand new jewelry instruction videos at the film studios at F+W Media, Inc., my
fabulous publisher! It was a whirlwind three days! Yup, I flew about 3,166.4 miles to
film two videos, just for you!  I traveled on a Monday, filmed two videos on Tuesday, and
traveled home Wednesday. Four flights across the United States, four different airports,
three days later, and it's all done!

Colorado is a beautiful place, and the landscape is quite different from what I am used
to in Pennsylvania, so it was a new experience for me in many different ways. This was
also my first time on camera...I wasn't very nervous, it was more like I didn't know exactly what to expect, exactly what it would be like. Kind of like when you're going to have a baby.
You can read and prepare all you want, but until it actually happens, you don't know exactly
how it's going to be until you experience it for real, right as it's happening!

Live on the set!

I will write more about the videos in a future blog post, but I will tell you now that the first
video teaches you how to make an awesome broken china jewelry necklace, and the second
video teaches you my new technique for combining wire with soft solder to create a beautiful
and amazing jewelry effect! If you love to make jewelry, or always wanted to learn how to
make soldered jewelry using a soldering iron, you will love these videos! (the video release
date is early December, by the way!)

Lights, cameras, jewelry making!

Well it's past my bedtime and I need to get some much needed sleep so that I can get my two
girls up for school tomorrow, but I just had to share the good news with you.

Enjoy your day! ~ Laura

I hope you have a great week
Love, Laura
