Adding Boho style to your home is a great way to incorporate mismatched items, bright colors, unique and unusual furniture, and vintage home accessories.
Don't know where to start? How about with one room. Check out my suggestions below for 10 ways to add Boho style to your bedroom and once you get the hang of it, you'll soon be wanting to spread the Boho vibe all throughout your living space!
1o ways to add Boho style to your bedroom
1. Add a piece of brightly colored vintage furniture.
How to: Go to a thrift store. Find an old wooden chair, hope chest, bed headboard or dresser, and paint it a vibrant saturated color. I suggest a shade of turquoise, purple, lime green, or even red. This is an inexpensive way to add a completely unique and vibrant visual WOW to your room. Feeling extra creative? Add some decorative painted details to your piece. You don't have to be an artist to do this. Think creatively!
The chair below is the perfect example of a thrift shop item that would be perfect for this project. I bought this at a thrift store for $5. Now imagine it painted and with the chair pad replaced. The possibilities are endless! ...and the investment is under $20.

2. Add a sheer curtain, scarf curtain, or tapestry to a wall or window.
How to: Unless you're living in a dorm room, you may want to forgo the traditional wall tapestry. A more chic and grown up alternative? A sheer curtain. Create your own scarf curtain by collecting vintage scarves from thrift stores. Sew them together (hey, you could even pin them if you wanted).

3. Accessorize with a warm metallic decoration in either brass or bronze.
How to: Rustic bells or wind chimes are perfect, such as these shown below. Note the color pop from the turquoise door!
4. Add lots of plants. Lots. Especially hanging ones that trail.
How to: It's no surprise that greens look great among splashes of bright color. That's why flowers look great in a garden! Take advantage of sunny windows by adding a few hanging viney houseplants to bring a little bit of nature indoors.
How to: Display a collection of framed art or pictures grouped together on one wall - the more variety the better. Some ideas: flea market finds, vintage paint by numbers, upcycled thrift store paintings.

6. Add a macrame curtain or wall hanging.
How to: Don't have an available window for a curtain? Hang a macrame wall hanging on any wall. Create your own version with thrift store finds.

7. Create a mix of lush fabrics.
How to: Touches of velvet, satin, and other rich fabrics don't have to break the bank. You can use them sparingly (and again, scour those thrift stores!) These rich fabrics look even more luxurious in saturated jewel colors or warm tones.

8. Display your books in a creative way.
How to: Forgo the traditional bookcase and instead, why not figure out a creative way to showcase your favorite books. Vintage wood crates, old drawers (like the one in the photo below) offer unexpected storage with easy style.
