Painted dresser by restored4u

What better way to recycle an old piece of furniture than to upcycle it into something brand new? Check out these great examples from some folks who have done just that with dressers and chests of drawers. With some paint, stencils, decoupage and a little imagination, you too can create your own custom furniture masterpiece!

  1. Hopping over here from the Etsy Blog Team. :)

Wow, what a huge round up! It's amazing how just putting on a new coat of paint can make such a difference. I love the color gradation idea.

Link up your Friday Feature with me!

    1. I like that one too. Would be neat in shades of brown.

  2. Amazing transformations here. Quite a wonderful collection. I did refinish one dresser years ago, just the standard sanded, stained, and varnished, but it was a fun challenge.

    1. I have two pieces I've been "holding on to" that are ready for makeovers - an antique sewing table and an armoire... hopefully I will get the time to tackle them this summer!

  3. Oh my gosh - so inspiring! I want to redo a dresser this spring, and these ideas are wonderful. Thanks! I pinned it!

    1. Thanks for the pin! I too am waiting for warmer weather to do my furniture projects. I need ventilation when painting and refinishing so they will have to be done in a warmer season when I can open my garage doors!

  4. Wow! These are amazing--definitely make me want to spice some of my furniture!

  5. Amazing! I wish I had seen this about five years ago. I would have refinish my old ugly dressers. So many great ideas!

  6. I have completing a few of my own upcycled dressers! Check them out at
Love the list you have gathered! Very inspiring!

  7. Yay!! That reverse stencil dresser with the ship is glad to have it featured here ;)

  8. I love the upcycled look on furniture, you have gathered an amazing collection for us to drool over. Thank you for the time and effort. I would be happy to share the wallpapered furniture I have been doing for 15 years now. I have all kinds of designs and patterns with helpful tips. You can find it on Pinterest at and on Etsy at If anyone has questions I would be happy to help. I love being able to do this work and finding joy in taking something about to be discarded and giving it a brand new life.

    1. Thanks for sharing, glad you liked the post!

    2. Did you do the stunning black & white one listed here?

  10. I love this post! I recently redid a dresser too, and so far am loving it. (I did a whole post with pics about it on my blog!) The process was enjoyable as well-I wish I had the space, time, money and need to keep redoing them. I loved the inspiration from this that I could maybe do to other pieces of furniture too!
