You will need:
- Clean and dry empty food cans
- A hole punch (can use a hammer with a nail or a drill with a small bit instead if you like)
- Heavyweight fishing line or craft wire (approx. 18 ga)
- A variety of large-sized inexpensive craft beads
- Halloween paper or gift wrap, scissors, and craft glue OR:
- Acrylic craft paint and brushes
- Acrylic sealant (spray-on or liquid brush-on, such as Mod Podge)
- To create these holiday cans, save old empty food cans (14 oz to 28 oz, whatever size you like) and gather your supplies.
- Use the hole punch to make two to four hanging holes at the top open-rim area of each can. Larger cans may need four holes, smaller ones, two.
- You can cut and glue pre-printed holiday paper directly to the cans or paint your own designs directly on the cans.
- When completely dry coat with sealant.
- Thread wire or fishing line through one hole in the can and then thread on the beads. Tie the ends of the fishing line to secure. Repeat this process for each hole in your can. Meet all beaded strands together at their ends and secure with another piece of fishing line or with a piece of 18 gauge wire.
Happy Halloween! -Laura
