Lamp From Upcycled Old Books

For another fun spin on upcycled old books and pages, how about creating a Book & Page Lamp like the one pictured above?

Lamp hardware is readily available at most hardware stores and is simple to assemble. Use many layers of pages folded and adhered together to create solid shapes such as the shade shown above. Be sure to leave lots of space between the bulb and shade so that your lamp is firesafe.

Stacks of old books are drilled through and then adhered together to form this creative base.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and right now we're having a snow storm, so what better time to make some homemade Valentines

Gather up your supplies - for this project we'll use lots of recycled and upcycled materials including old sheet music, book pages, recipe cook book pages, and even some old sewing pattern tissue paper! Check out the step-by-step video tutorial here.

I'll show you how you can make some pretty ruffles using old sewing patterns or even regular tissue paper to give your valentine a beautiful and unique effect.

You can personalize your Valentine by using your favorite colors and materials, and I'll share with you all the techniques I use to create mine.

Upcycled Sheet Music Crafts

Why not celebrate your love for music by upcycling old sheet music into unique one of a kind creations and home decor?

Where can you find old sheet music?
Garage sales and flea markets are good places to start, or if you prefer, print your own sheet music to use in crafts (see the last links at the end of this post for a few free printables.)

Paper is one of the  most versatile craft materials. It can be folded, drawn on, painted on, cut and pasted, glued, shaped, decoupaged, and even molded and sculpted into beautiful shapes and designs.

Book and book page art became popular a few years ago, so why not show your love for music by using upcycled sheet music pages in your artwork? Can't find any in poor enough shape to upcycle or use for crafts? Make copies and use those.
