Yikes! It's been so many years since I first published my Bright White Clay Dough blog post (and you can see the original blog post here)! Where does the time go?
Anyway, a few weeks ago when preparing for the holidays I came across that old blog post and decided to make a video of creating the recipe, but I haven't had time to share it here until now, so if you didn't catch it over on my YouTube channel, here it is!
This fabulous, easy-to-make dough will last for a few weeks, wrapped in damp paper towels and stored in a tightly sealed plastic container in your fridge, so make now and create later!
Once you create your clay dough creations, bake them in a low-temperature oven for an hour or two until completely dry (instructions in the video), and then paint and decorate as you like.
Here are a few quick tips:
- Have a container ready to turn the dough into right when you're finished mixing it
- Roll out the dough on parchment paper
- Don't roll it out too thin! It shrinks a little bit as it dries, and if you make your pieces too thin, they will be too brittle once they dry. Just under 1/4" thickness is good.
- When rolling out the dough, sprinkle a little cornstarch on your parchment and rolling pin for easy release
- Bake in a low temp oven until hard
- Paint with acrylic paints
- You can seal them with Mod Podge or any acrylic craft sealant spray or brush-on
