Easy Berry Trifle Dessert Recipe for 4th of July

Some of the best recipes are the ones that you can throw together in a pinch and the taste and presentation really packs a punch.

This is one of those recipes!

Some trifle recipes include a syrup that you must cook on a stovetop - this one does not - this is a quick and easy recipe.

With just a few simple ingredients: berries, whipped cream, and angel food cake, you can have this Berry Trifle Dessert assembled and ready to serve in under 20 minutes.

Here's what it takes:

1 premade angel food cake (find it in the bakery section of your grocery store)

2 pints of blueberries, washed

2 pints of strawberries, washed and hulled (Set aside a few nice berries for garnishing in the end)
Note: you can also use raspberries if you like

2 cups of heavy cream

1 Tablespoon lemon juice

2 Tablespoons sugar

A large trifle dish or large bowl for serving

Directions:

Tear the angel food cake into 1" -2" pieces and set aside

Wash and hull the berries and slice the strawberries (remember to set a few whole berries aside for garnish)

In an electric mixer combine the heavy cream, sugar, and lemon juice. Once combined, mix on high until cream is thickened to whipped cream texture. Mixture should not be runny. Be careful not to overmix!

Assemble the trifle

Layer in dish as follows:

From bottom up: First a layer of berries, then a layer of angel food cake, then whipped cream.

Repeat with another layer of berries, cake, and top with the rest of whipped cream. Top with berries for garnish.

Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Happy 4th!
