A Midas Touch Of Gold For Your Autumn Thanksgiving Table

Gold Painted Turkey from The Glitter Guide

Oh my gosh Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Next Thursday! This is the time of year when the pace really picks up and all of a sudden the holidays are here.

How do you decorate your Thanksgiving table? ...don't say with a turkey! I already guessed that! :)

I love the look of gold in autumn, it's such a warm tone and coordinates so well with the turning autumn leaf shades of yellow, orange, red, and brown. Adding a touch of gold is a great way to dress up your Thanksgiving table, and it's much easier and inexpensive than you might think.

There are many free, natural items that you might be able to find in your own backyard or on a nature walk that you can use for your table. Think about acorns, fallen brown leaves (press them between some paper and in between heavy books to flatten them out while they finish drying), branches, stones, feathers, pinecones, gourds and pumpkins left over from Halloween...what else can you think of? I can promise that you don't need much, because a little touch of gold goes a long way.

A small bottle of metallic gold colored acrylic paint can be found at just about any craft store for around one dollar. As a matter of fact, you might be surprised to find that your craft store might just offer more than one shade of gold for you to choose from! Pick up an inexpensive craft paint brush and that is all you need, plus a little bit of creative fun time. You have a week and two days to prepare!

Paint your items and allow ample drying time, at least 48 hours. Take a look at what some other creative folks have created with a bit of gold paint and a little bit of ingenuity...
