Gingerbread House Inspiration

In our house, Christmas wouldn't be complete without a gingerbread house. Nowadays, look in just about any larger chain grocery or department store and you will find pre-baked gingerbread house kits that contain the ready to assemble gingerbread walls and roofs, along with white royal icing and a variety of candy pieces to decorate your house with.

If you find you are short on time over the holidays but still want to enjoy creating a gingerbread house of your own, the kit is probably the way to go. I've done them with my daughters and I've found the ones we've used to be pretty much all-inclusive, but you can also add your own personal touch by adding your own, different types of candies to decorate your house. For the ambitious, you can make your own gingerbread from scratch!

No matter whether you decide to use a pre-baked gingerbread kit or bake your own gingerbread house from scratch, read on and be inspired by this collection of beautiful gingerbread houses!

This is an idea I like a lot (and is great for small children). Construct your houses with graham crackers like the ones in the photo above by Tiffany at Eat This Up blog. Check out her post about how to host a gingerbread house decorating party!
