Craft Time For Toilet Paper Hoarders: Toilet Paper Tube Art

Why do you need so much toilet paper?

It's all over the news. People are hoarding rolls and rolls of toilet paper like there's no tomorrow. (There will be a tomorrow people, I promise, just stay home for a bit, wash your hands and take care of your families!) In the mean time, go easy!

There are lots of people in this world and everyone needs some, so please take only what you need, and share your extras. There are elderly folks, young couples with babies and lots of young children who need it too, so just keep that in mind. Anyway, now that I've helped to spread the social message, what the heck are you going to do with all of those leftover empty cardboard toilet paper roll tubes? Read on...

Fritz Junior Jacquet had the right idea when he decided to transform empty cardboard toilet paper roll tubes into fun crafts. The toilet paper roll face was born and now with a little bit of know-how and a bit of practice, you can make your own.

Instructions:

1. Wet the toilet paper roll tube. Make it soaking wet, but don't soak it in water for too long or it will completely fall apart. Just drench it.

2. Use your fingers to manipulate the cardboard, pinching and forming it to create facial features; eyes, a nose, a mouth, puppy dog ears? You get the picture.

3. Allow it to completely dry and harden.

4. Paint with your favorite paints. I recommend acrylic paints. Allow to dry. Enjoy.

Check out these amazing examples to inspire you. What other things could you create? How about cats and dogs, or even an alien? I want to see what you create, so if you make this craft be sure to share photos on our Facebook page!

Above you can see part of the process, once the cardboard tubes are shaped and allowed to dry. Now they are ready for paint!
