Vintage Christmas Ornament Wreaths That You Can Make

Christmas ornament wreaths are the perfect way to use those old, chipped ornaments and turn them into something new and beautiful!

Here's how to do it:

~First, attach a wire to your wreath base.  This will serve as the wreath's hanger.

~You can use any type of wreath base. Straw works well. (The first wreath shown in the photos below was built upon an existing old wreath)

~Next, use a low temp glue gun or E600 adhesive (better for glass ornaments) to attach ornaments to the wreath base.

~Attach the largest ornaments first, then use the smallest ornaments to fill in the gaps.

That's it! Check out the collection of wreaths below for inspiration!

New Vintage Lace Jewelry - Lace & Glass Necklace

Antique Lace Jewelry by Laura Beth Love Dishfunctional Designs

"A remnant of cloth from a baby's first dress, a bit of lace from your wedding veil or vintage handkerchief, a piece of your grandmother's quilt, or perhaps a square from one of your father's ties—what better way to preserve a small snippet of a precious textile than to transform it into a beautiful, wearable piece you can enjoy every day?"

Wow, it's been a while since I've made some of my vintage lace & glass jewelry (learn how in project Lace & Glass Necklace, page 97, Boho Chic Jewelry Book). I try to offer a nice selection of different items in my shop, and my vintage lace jewelry seems to always sell out quickly.

Every now and then I get in the mood to switch gears and create something a little different. My lace and glass jewelry is one of those go-to items that I enjoy creating on a whim when the mood strikes. I figured I would make a few of these unique pieces and get them in my shop for the holidays, so here they are.

I think the piece featured below turned out especially nice. I individually hand-beaded each gemstone link one at a time, and it took me an entire afternoon to put this one together! The chain and wires are all solid sterling silver and the gemstones are genuine pearls, rainbow moonstone beads, and quartz crystal beads.

This piece is long! It measures about 31" in length and easily slips over your head...I think I added the lobster claw style clasp out of good habit! :)  The lace is antique Edwardian era and is a shade of creamy vintage off-white.

The two pieces shown at the bottom of this page are a bit different, with an antique black finish and unique chain, and pendant style with small crystal for some variations. I hope you like them!

Upcycled Farmhouse Wall Decor: Vintage China & Silver Spoons Sculpture

Sculpture by Laura Beth Love of Dishfunctional Designs

I can't believe how quickly 2018 has flown by. It seemed like we were just getting out our beach umbrellas and now I've got a pumpkin on my porch!  Thanksgiving is right around the corner and the winter holidays are close behind. Speaking of Thanksgiving, I had to share my new vintage wall art sculpture that I made from repurposed and salvaged vintage silver spoons and an old, unusual Statue of Liberty china platter.

These actually started out as displays for a museum show that I was a part of (I made two of them, the one pictured here and also a smaller version) and I loved how they turned out so much one went right up on my wall. The one photographed here is now listed in my Etsy shop. It has such a cool and unique look to it, and is perfect for dining room or kitchen (though it could be hung anywhere). It has such vintage charm that I think it would look great in vintage farmhouse decor or eclectic decor. Perfect for the vintage and antique lover!

I hung mine between two old silver trays in my dining room. Check it out!

Amazing Things Made With Old Upcycled Propane Tanks

What do you do with an old propane tank? Check out how some creative people used their ingenuity and not only created something clever and new, but also prevented another old metal empty propane tank from going into a landfill.

Interested in recreating one of these projects? My advice would be to definitely do your research and talk to an expert before attempting any of these ideas. Propane tanks can be very dangerous and if they are not empty could explode and cause injury, so do that research and get information from a pro!

Which do you like best?

Have a great week!
