Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Candy Corn But Were Afraid To Ask

I am going to admit up front that I've never been a huge fan of candy corn.
But it's always there.

Each time autumn arrives, candy corn is sure to follow!

My own opinion of candy corn was most likely formed as a child. When Halloween
and Trick or Treat came around, most friends had their favorites that they
hoped to get on Trick or Treat night. Reese's, Snickers...my personal favorite were
those B-B-Bats of taffy that came in chocolate, strawberry,
peanut butter and my favorite: banana (remember these?)

In any case, I don't think I ever heard any of my friends or classmates exclaim,
"I hope I get a lot of candy corn!"
It just never happened.

But candy corn is traditional.

It has become part of our culture and it is expected.
And it doesn't taste bad!

Did you know that October 30th is National Candy Corn Day?

Now you do.

According to TLC's article "What is candy corn and how is it made?" by Stephanie Watson,

"Candy corn is a sweet replicate of dried corn kernels. It's considered "mellow cream,"
a name for a type of candy made from corn syrup and sugar that has a marshmallow-like
flavor. although candy corn tastes rich, it's actually fat-free."

  1. As a kid candy corn and jelly beans were my two favorite candies! Now I use the corn for decorations mostly, but I do buy a bag every year:@)

  3. Holy Cow. Yes. I am a HUGE fan of candy corn and this post has made me want to go out and buy some right now! The only reason I never hoped for candy corn in my treat bucket was probably because I had been eating it for weeks before Halloween. I can't wait to try that Martini!

  4. I liked candy corn, but it wasn't my favorite. I had no idea that candy corn had its own day. Now I do! I haven't eaten it in the longest time, but last year I saw the recipe for homemade butterfingers on pinerest - made me want to try to make it this year. So I'll be buying some candy corn soon. =0)
    Fun post!
